Mikado MFT Runner is a range of compact free spool fishing reels designed specifically for feeder fishing and various bottom fishing techniques. Suitable for Method Feeder, traditional feeder fishing with groundbait feeders and setups using medium-weight carp leads, these reels offer versatility for different fishing situations. Their compact construction combines a relatively low weight with robust gearing and a precisely adjustable drag system. The MFT Runner range is a practical choice for anglers targeting bream, tench and carp who want a versatile reel with a free spool mechanism.
The key feature of the Mikado MFT Runner is its integrated free spool system, which allows fish to take line after a bite without having to loosen the main drag. This function is particularly useful when fishing with rods positioned on rests, whether using a Method Feeder, a traditional groundbait feeder or a standard bottom fishing rig. Once the free spool mechanism is disengaged, the precisely adjustable front drag provides control when playing fish. Depending on the model, the maximum drag force is 10 or 12 kg. Robust gearing, a balanced rotor and 8 bearings in a 7+1 configuration contribute to smooth, stable operation during retrieval and demanding fights.
The range includes two models: Mikado MFT Runner 3008 FD and 4008 FD. The 3008 FD weighs 352 g, features a 5.2:1 gear ratio, a maximum drag force of 10 kg and retrieves 72 cm of line per handle turn. Its spool holds 330 m of 0.20 mm line or 150 m of 0.30 mm line. The larger 4008 FD weighs 362 g, also features a 5.2:1 gear ratio and offers a maximum drag force of 12 kg, with a line retrieve of 77 cm per handle turn. Its spool capacity is 280 m of 0.25 mm line or 140 m of 0.35 mm line. Both models are equipped with aluminium spools and a free spool mechanism.
Mikado MFT Runner fishing reels are particularly suitable for anglers who value convenient handling and controlled line release when feeder fishing or using bottom fishing rigs. The 3008 FD is a practical option for lighter feeder and Method Feeder setups, while the 4008 FD provides greater maximum drag force and a spool capacity suited to thicker fishing lines. This also makes it a useful choice for carp fishing with traditional bottom rigs. Combining a free spool mechanism, powerful gearing and a precise front drag system, the MFT Runner range offers versatility for Method Feeder, traditional feeder fishing and other forms of bottom fishing.
