MADCAT X-ZIBIT Close Combat 170 is a short, powerful catfish rod specifically designed for vertical fishing from boats and belly boats. Measuring 1.70 m, this specialist rod is primarily intended for presenting baitfish rigs vertically beneath the angler. Its compact design makes it easy to handle in confined spaces while providing precise bait control and excellent leverage when fighting large catfish. The fast action ensures a quick response to bites and angler movements, while the powerful lower section of the blank delivers the strength needed to control strong fish. The Close Combat has been developed for short-range fishing situations where direct contact with the rig, reliable hook setting and the ability to lift powerful catfish from deeper water are particularly important.

The rod is built around a reinforced 24T carbon blank, designed to withstand the considerable pressure generated during demanding fights with large catfish. Its impressive lifting power helps anglers maintain control during sudden runs, particularly when a fish is positioned directly beneath the boat. As this rod is intended for vertical presentations rather than casting, it features smaller line guides that help reduce the overall weight. A reinforced tip guide with a double ring provides additional strength in an area exposed to significant pressure during vertical catfish fishing. The rod is also equipped with a SeaGuide XSS reel seat featuring a double locking system, ensuring that the reel remains securely positioned under heavy loads. The combination of a compact blank, robust construction and carefully selected components provides dependable control over the rig and allows anglers to manage powerful fish effectively, even in the limited space of a boat.

MADCAT X-ZIBIT Close Combat 170 measures 1.70 m and has a casting weight rating of 50–125 g. The rod weighs 236 g and has a transport length of 110 cm. Its two-piece construction makes it easier to transport while retaining the strength and handling characteristics required for vertical fishing. The fast action and reinforced blank make this model particularly suitable for anglers presenting baitfish rigs directly beneath their boat and requiring substantial lifting power to control large catfish. Its short length allows comfortable manoeuvring close to the side of the boat, while the small guides and powerful blank create a construction designed for fishing under heavy loads rather than long-distance casting. The X-ZIBIT Close Combat is a specialist catfish rod for anglers who prefer active fishing from boats or belly boats, where fast response, precise bait presentation and reliable control over powerful fish are essential.
